I Love/Belgrade - The New Souvenir Collection
The story begins with my wish to create a collection that celebrates the beauty of everyday life. All the wealth and diversity of everyday life I tried to transform into something accessible to everyone, or at least to anyone who knows, feels and like Belgrade.
The story begins with my wish to create a collection that celebrates the beauty of everyday life. All the wealth and diversity of everyday life I tried to transform into something accessible to everyone, or at least to anyone who knows, feels and like Belgrade.
Like all good stories, this one also began almost by accident. Back then in 2000, in the frame of my diploma thesis I drew a graphic work of the city where I live. It contained all main buildings, all recognizable features of the face of this city and thus represented the dense web of architectural lines which constitute the urban visual space. Connected to the bridge and river, these elements have led me to the core composition that would later serve as the main theme of which bore the entire collection. The same graphic tone was further accentuated through color, whether it led me black, white or red color, I had a clear vision that Belgrade itself whispered to me, and which was not so hard to follow ... The city has breathed life to this collection of seemingly ordinary, items that transferred my message to the witty, but graphically clear and easily understandable way.
I Love / Belgrade is therefore collection which grew out of my personal relationship with the city, a collection whose origins I truly enjoyed. I hope that part of this enjoyment will feel all those who will bring to their lifes a part of this collection, be it a plate, mug, shirt, bag, pen, or my very dear, and here was treated very differently - trulex patch ...
And at the end of the story, something about the author. My name is Ivana Radenkovic, graphic design (and all other kinds of design) I have been practicing for almost a decade in Serbia and abroad. By the beginning of this year, I worked in the newspaper company "Politics Newspapers and Magazines" in Art Direction together to phenomenal man and designer Borut Vild. As of some time ago, I intensely think about bussines-based moving abroad, I wanted to create something for my town, something that I will leave behind me and what will be understandable to people who consider Belgrade their home or adopted city, and yet intriguing enough to people outside of Serbia, be they artists or not.
