Concert of the 12th International Festival “Belgrade SAXperience”: MICHAEL KRENN and NEDA HOFMAN SRETENOVIĆ

This concert is part of the 12th International Saxophone Festival Belgrade SAXperience. Michael Krenn is Professor of saxophone at Music and Arts University Vienna (MUK) and at Innsbruck Conservatory (TLK). Saxophonist Michael Kren will perform together with pianist Neda Hofman Sretenović.

Biographies:
Michael Krenn (born in 1986) has performed in many European countries as well as in Thailand, Japan, Russia, Chile and India. After finishing his studies at City of Vienna Conservatory in Lars Mlekusch`s saxophone studio with highest distinction, he now works both as a freelance musician, playing with prestigious orchestras and ensembles, and as a saxophone teacher in Austria. Michael Krenn is Professor of saxophone at Music and Arts University Vienna (MUK) and at Innsbruck Conservatory (TLK). He is member of the contemporary music ensembles PHACE and OENM based in Vienna and Salzburg. With his group „Mobilis Saxophone Quartet“ Michael has given concerts in Austria´s major concert halls, including the Golden Hall in Musikverein Vienna and played concerts in many European countries, as well as in Japan and Chile. His orchestral appearances have included concerts with the major orches-tras in Austria. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues around the globe. Among many prizes in national and international music competitions are the 2012 winner of the Yamaha Music Foundation scholarship, second pri-ze at the 2011 Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in Bangkok, Thailand, the Bank of Austria Artist of the Year 2011 with the Mobilis Saxophone Quartet, and winner at the “Fidelio Competition” of the Vienna Conservatory in 2009/2010. He took first prize in 2009 at the Austrian music competition “Gradus ad Parnassum”, again with the Mobilis Saxophone Quartet and second prize at the International Wind Instrument competition “Intermusica” in Birkfeld, Austria, in addition to first prize at the first International Saxophone Competition in Lodz / Poland. He has already released eight CD recordings with his major ensembles as a soloist or chamber musician, showing a big variety of musical styles and genres. Michael Krenn is Henri Selmer Artist and D´Addario Woodwinds Artist.

Neda Hofman-Sretenović (Belgrade) graduated in the class of prof. Arbo Valdma at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (1999). In the same class, she completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne (2002) as a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) scholarship holder. She received her master’s degree in the class of prof. Rita Kinka at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad (2004). In 2015, she received her doctorate in chamber music in the class of prof. Zorica Ćetković at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, on the subject of Problems of interpretation and technical realization of electroacoustic works. She performs contemporary music. In 2011, she founded The Construction Site Contemporary Music Ensemble, with which she has held over thirty concerts in the country and abroad (Lithuania, Montenegro, Croatia, Israel) since its inception. As a soloist and chamber musician, she performed in Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Macedonia, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. She performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television of Serbia, the Chamber Orchestra St. George Strings, the Belgrade String Orchestra Dušan Skovran, the Camerata Academica String Orchestra, as well as the women’s academic choir Collegium musicum. She recorded with the Radio Belgrade Symphony Orchestra, for the production of the Music Information Center, the production of The Construction Site Contemporary Music Ensemble, and for the Musicological Society of Serbia. She is the winner of the “Aleksandar Pavlović” award for the promotion of Serbian music in the country and abroad, awarded by the Association of Composers of Serbia (2017, 2020).
She is employed as a senior artistic associate at the Department of String Instruments at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
