Goran Despotovski, in his solo show ASC/DESC, questions past systems and the new world order that now negates previously established values. His installation, made up of depersonalized mannequins, represents the human being in its bare existence—lost in a value-less world. These faceless people live in the belief that they have no control over their own lives: neutral, powerless, inauthentic, lifeless.
In his work, Goran Despotovski deals with the representation of the human being as an isolated, depersonalized individual, using the medium of installation. Groups of dolls positioned in various formations, through their poses and clothing, evoke images of people in camps, prisons, hospitals, waiting rooms, etc. The primary impulse for such representations comes from various turbulent and repressive states imposed on humans through manipulative relationships.
