Concert of the 13th International Festival “Belgrade SAXperience”: ALAIN CREPIN and NEDA HOFMAN SRETENOVIĆ

This concert is part of the 13th International Saxophone Festival Belgrade SAXperience that takes place in different concert halls in Belgrade from 1th September till 8th December 2026. Alain Crepin is professor emeritus of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He will perform together with pianist Neda Hofman Sretenović.
This concert is supported by Belgium Embassy in Serbia and in cooperation with SASA and the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.

Biographies:
A multifaceted musician, Alain Crepin was born in Mettet (Belgium) on February 28, 1954. In Dinant, he studied saxophone, piano and cello before going to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of François Daneels. There he graduated in saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, orchestration and conducting.
He is professor emeritus of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and he was also professor of conducting and orchestration at the Conservatory of Esch-sur-Alzette (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg). Major bandmaster, he conducted the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force and was appointed artistic director of all the bands of the Belgian Defence. He mainly composes for wind instruments and has recorded over 60 CDs as a soloist, conductor or musical supervisor.
Founding president of the Dinant International Saxophone Competition, he is a member of many international juries and has given concerts and masterclasses all over the world. He regularly performs recitals saxophone and piano with the famous pianist Eliane Reyes. He was still in Japan and China last June and July to represent Belgium there. He is currently artistic director of the Adolphe Sax International Association in Dinant, Belgium, the city where A Sax was born.
He is also a appreciated guest conductor and accompanied the greatest saxophone soloists at various world congresses: Minneapolis (USA), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Strasbourg (France), Zagreb (Croatia), Harbin (China) as well as at the Asian Saxophone Congresses in Chia-Yi (Taiwan), Shanghai & Harbin (China). He also created and conducted the International Ensemble of saxophones at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He is the father of 3 children and the grandfather of 7 wonderful grandchildren.

Neda Hoffman – Sretenović studied in the class of prof. Dr. h.c. Arbo Waldma at the FMU in Belgrade and at the College of Music in Cologne, as a DAAD scholarship holder. She received her master’s degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, in the class of prof. Rita Kinka. She received her doctorate in chamber music in the class of prof. Zorica Ćetković at FMU in Belgrade, on the topic “Problems of interpretation and technical realization of electroacoustic works”. She performs contemporary music. In 2011, she founded the Construction Site Contemporary Music Ensemble, with which she held over 30 concerts in the country and abroad. As a soloist and chamber musician, she performed in Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Macedonia, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Neda Hofman-Sretenović premieres works by renowned contemporary composers, as well as compositions by young authors.
She regularly performs at the festival Tribina kompozitora, as well as at the KOMA and Lasciar vibrare festivals. She participated in the festival Kompozitori u prvom licu. She performed with renowned Serbian orchestras, as well as with the Collegium musicum choir. She is the official accompanist of the SAXperience International Saxophone Competition. In 2020, her book Performing Electroacoustic Music was published by FMU Belgrade. She is employed as an independent artistic associate at the Department of String Instruments, Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
