Ali, a courageous woman and single mother of two kids and a former professional boxer, works with the trainer and owner of a rundown box club in Hamburg in order to provide for her family. The worn-out boxer Tanne recognizes her talent and gives her a comeback, for which the young mother has to pay a high price. GIPSY QUEEN pays homage to the history of the boxer film and is a courageous study of the milieu with a courageous female figure that is rarely seen in the cinema.
